Men are known to commit suicide more frequently than women. Fortunately, it also happens that sometimes, a man’s attempt at suicide can also be the turning point in which a man saves his own life. That is what happened to Terrence Li. Terrence describes himself as a failed entrepreneur, suicide attempt survivor, depression, lifestyle and finance blogger, life coach and stock trader. His struggles and failures do not define who he is and he shares openly on his blog, Millennials Path.
In this episode, Terrence, a happy-go-lucky type of guy, shares how he experienced depression and how he handled his emotions, thinking that having more money would be the key to happiness.
While dealing with mental health issues, Terrence talks about why he didn’t seek professional help and how his family and friends reacted to his depression. He also put into detail the series of events that led to his attempted suicide and how his life took a big turn after surviving it. In the end, Terrence gave powerful advice to entrepreneurs who are having a hard time and/or are feeling suicidal.
“The fact that my attempted suicide can cause harm to someone else, kind of changed my perspective about life and I just had this epiphany where I need to change my state of mind.”
– Terrence Li
“I wasn’t showing myself any self-love and financially speaking I didn’t want to spend any more money and I was just trying to hoard my money so that I can keep as much of it as possible because I suffered such a big loss already.”
– Terrence Li
